VVBW’s “Speed Networking” event on Wednesday, March 8 offered an opportunity for attending members to make lasting business contacts. With business cards in hand, professional women promoted their businesses, shared leads and made new friends. Speed networking consists of several rounds of one-on-one networking - two minutes per pairing – before participants move seats to network with other professionals.
Forty women attended the event, hosted at Annapurna Restaurant in Vail. The evening began with an Indian and Nepali food buffet before transitioning into speed networking. Participants were given a handout with a few suggested questions to spark conversation.
Speed networking was added as an annual event in 2015 after the VVBW board received overwhelming positive feedback on the event.
“Due to the often transitional nature of ski towns, it can be challenging to make the kind of new and lasting contacts so important for any business,” said VVBW President Lori Gleason. “Also, we find that facilitated networking encourages a community environment and helps put the shyer attendees at ease.”
